    Ratified IATSE Area Standards Agreement Changes And Effective Dates

    With the IATSE and AMPTP Area Standards Agreement (ASA) new three year term ratified and going into effect as of August 4, 2024, we've put together what you need to know about what's changed in the IATSE ASA and when those changes come into effect, where applicable.

    Wages

    • General Increases
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - 7% increase
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - 4% increase
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - 3.5% increase
    • Article 3(A)(2) (a.k.a. Non-Maryland) Rates
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - 2% increase of the 2023 rate, then a 7% increase on top of that rate.
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - 2% increase of the 2024 rate, then a 4% increase on top of that rate.
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - 2% increase of the 2025 rate, then a 3.5% increase on top of that rate.
      • Note - These rates will also increase an additional 2% in the first two cycles of the next successor agreement, but in no case will ever be higher than the “Maryland” minimum rates.
    • APOC and Art Coordinators Television Rates
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increases From $26.00 per hour to $28.50 per hour
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - Increases From $28.50 per hour to $30.00 per hour
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - 3.5% increase

    First Year Pension, Health and Annuity Rates 

    Rates based on daily flat rates are being increased to $175.00 per day for all regions and project types.

    • “Maryland” Fringe Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase theatrical rates from $152.00 per day to $175.00 per day
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase television rates from $148.00 per day to $175.00 per day
    • “Non-Maryland” Fringe Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase theatrical rates from $146.00 per day to $175.00 per day
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase television rates from $142.00 per day to $175.00 per day
    • “New England” Fringe Rates: 
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase theatrical rates from $161.00 per day to $175.00 per day
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase television rates from $148.00 per day to $175.00 per day
    • “Washington D.C.” Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase theatrical rates from $164.00 per day to $175.00 per day
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase television rates from $154.00 per day to $175.00 per day
    • “Oregon & Washington” Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase theatrical rates from $161.00 per day to $175.00 per day
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase television rates from $142.00 per day to $175.00 per day
    • “Southeastern Michigan” Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase theatrical rates from $163.00 per day to $175.00 per day
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase television rates from $153.00 per day to $175.00 per day
    • “Las Vegas” Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase the daily portion of the benefit rates from $120.32 per day to $143.32 per day
      • There is no increase to the 8% that goes to the NRA-720 Joint Trust. However, $7.32 per day of the daily benefit increase will also be sent to the NRA-720 Joint Trust.
    • “Hawaii” Rates:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increase the daily portion of the benefit rates from $108.00 per day to $131.00 per day
      • There is no increase to the hourly benefit rates

    Second and Third Year Pension, Health and Annuity Rates

    • Effective August 3, 2025 - Increases an additional $15.00 per day
    • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increase an additional $15.00 per day
    • Allocations for these increases can be determined separately by region. 

    Pension Contributions for Local 161 members hired in OH

    • Pension for Local 161 members hired in OH will now be required to be sent to NBF instead of the Local 27 Pension fund.

    Sideletters

    **Effective for programs that start principal photography on or after 8/4/2024

    • Sideletter No. 12 re: Productions Made for New Media
      • This sideletter will be incorporated as a new article in the agreement.
      • A new subparagraph “G.” will be added to the article regarding High Budget, Mid Budget and Low Budget Advertiser Supported Video on Demand (AVOD) and Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST Channel) programs.
        • Wage Rates and Terms & Conditions for AVOD and FAST Channel programs will follow those of SVOD programs.
    • Sideletter No. 15 re: Productions made for Basic Cable or The CW
      • This sideletter will be incorporated as a new article in the agreement.
      • The Pilot/Longform Rates will now only apply for the first (2) seasons of a series instead of the first (3) seasons.
      • Unworked Holidays:
        • 50% unworked holiday pay will now be owed for unworked holidays in season 2 of a series instead of season 3.
        • Full unworked holiday pay will now be owed for unworked holidays in season 3+ of a series instead of season 4+.

    Overtime

    **Effective for television programs, seasons of series and mini-series that start principal photography on or after 8/4/2024 

    • Double time will now be paid after 12 worked hours instead of 14 elapsed hours.
    • Triple time will now be paid after 15 elapsed hours in a workday.

    Rest Period Penalty

    **Effective for programs that start principal photography on or after 8/4/2024

    • The penalty for invaded hours will now be additional double time instead of straight time.
    • Invaded time of one-half hour or less will be paid for a minimum of one-half hour of additional double time.
    • Invaded time longer than one-half hour will be paid in one-tenth hour increments

    Consecutive Days Worked

    • Employees that work 14 consecutive days must receive a minimum of 1 day off.
    • An employee that works a 15th consecutive day will be paid additional straight time for all hours worked until a 32 hour rest period is given.

    Nearby Hire Living Allowance

    • Weekly:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increases From $637.00 per week to $707.00 per week
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - Increases From $707.00 per week to $777.00 per week
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increases From $777.00 per week to $847.00 per week
    • Daily:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increases From $91.00 per day to $101.00 per day
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - Increases From $101.00 per day to $111.00 per day
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increases From $111.00 per day to $121.00 per day

    Per Diem

    • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increases From $59.50 per day to $70.00 per day
    • Effective August 3, 2025 - No Increase
    • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increases From $70.00 per day to $75.00 per day

    Holidays

    • Effective January 1, 2025 - Juneteenth will be added as a holiday.

    Sick Leave

    • Effective January 1, 2025 - Increases from a maximum of 48 hours (6 days) to a maximum of 80 hours (10 Days)
    • Effective January 1, 2025 - The required amount of days the employee must be employed by the producer to request sick pay is reduced from 90 days to 45 days.
    • Effective January 1, 2025 - The bank of sick time carried over into the next employment year increases from 24 hours (3 days) to 40 hours (5 days).

    Bereavement Leave

    •  Effective August 4, 2024 - An employee will be allowed up to 3 days of bereavement leave in the event of the death of a family member.
