    Official IATSE Basic Agreement Changes And Effective Dates

    Since IATSE's ratification of the Basic Agreement in 2024, several contract provisions have rolled out on a staggered timeline. With a new wave of changes taking effect in 2026, we've put together what you need to know about what's changing and when. 

    Wages

    📌 Editor's note (July 2026): The August 2026 rate increase below takes effect August 2, 2026.

    • General Increases:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - 7% increase
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - 4% increase
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - 3.5% increase
    • Sideletter wage changes:
      • Projects where principal photography started on or after 8/4/24 that before would have been subject to previous year or two years rates (a.k.a. rollback rates), have rates that are a 3% reduction of the regular studio or distant location rates.

    MPI Pension and Health Plan

    📌 Editor's note (July 2026): The August 2026 rate increases below take effect August 2, 2026.

    • Premium Rate (Non-$15 million contributors):
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increased from $12.3775 per hour to $14.0275 per hour
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - Increased from $14.0275 per hour to $14.8875 per hour
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increase from $14.8875 per hour to $15.7475 per hour
    • Basic Rate ($15 million contributors): 
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increased from $8.1275 per hour to $9.5175 per hour
      • Effective August 3, 2025 - Increased from $9.5175 per hour to $9.9675 per hour
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increase from $9.9675 per hour to $10.4175 per hour

    CSATF Contribution Rate

    📌 Editor's note (July 2026): The August 2026 rate increases below take effect August 2, 2026.

    • Basic CSATF Rate:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increased from $0.60 per hour to $0.63 per hour
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increase from $0.63 per hour to $0.66 per hour
    • IATSE Local 871 POCs, APOCs, and Art Coordinators:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increased from $0.0920 per hour to $0.0966 per hour
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increase from $0.0966 per hour to $0.1012 per hour
    • IATSE  Local 871 Script Coordinators and Writers’ Room Assistants:
      • Effective August 4, 2024 - Increased from $0.0708 per hour to $0.0743 per hour
      • Effective August 2, 2026 - Increase from $0.0743 per hour to $0.0779 per hour

    Overtime

    • Triple time is now paid after 15 elapsed hours in a workday.
    • Double time under the special conditions sideletters is now paid after 12 worked hours instead of 14 elapsed hours.

    Rest Period Penalty

    • Penalties that call for additional straight time for invaded hours are now additional double time for invaded hours.
    • Invaded time of one-half hour or less is paid for a minimum of one-half hour of additional double time.
    • Invaded time longer than one-half hour is paid in one-tenth hour increments.

    Holidays

    • Effective January 1, 2025 - Juneteenth was added as a holiday.
    • Effective January 1, 2025 - The holiday accrual percentage increased from 4% to 4.583%.

    Travel Days

    • Hours for travel only days are now included in MPIPHP benefit calculations. The actual hours traveled are included, with a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 8 hours.

    On Call 7th Days

    • When required by the Producer to work on a 7th consecutive day, On Call classifications receive two times one-fifth of the weekly rate.

    Other

    • Transportation allowance is now paid when EE is required to report to a location in the secondary zone.

    Sick Leave

    • Effective January 1, 2025 - Increased from a maximum of 48 hours (6 days) to a maximum of 80 hours (10 days).
    • Effective January 1, 2025 - The required amount of days the employee must be employed by the producer to request sick pay was reduced from 90 days to 45 days.
    • Effective January 1, 2025 - The bank of sick time carried over into the next employment year increased from 24 hours (3 days) to 40 hours (5 days).

    Bereavement Leave

    •  Effective August 4, 2024 - An employee is allowed up to 3 days of bereavement leave in the event of the death of a family member.
