Additional Incentives Now Available for Indiana Film and Media Productions
Indiana is offering a new tax Incentive for film, TV, documentaries, music and digital media productions.
The Film and Media tax incentive, established in the 2022 legislative session with Senate Enrolled Act 361, offers an income tax credit of up to 30% to help offset certain production expenses such as acquisitions, filming and sound, labor, and story rights.
The program is currently funded $5,000,000 for the Fiscal Year 2022-2023. The incentive aims to attract members of the creative community to produce content in Indiana, while also encouraging crews to leverage the state’s urban, rural and natural assets.
Interested producers are invited to apply through October 31st, 2022.
Program highlights:
- 20% base incentive on qualified expenditures plus a 5% uplift for using local talent and a 5% uplift for including Indiana branding in your project.
- Currently the credit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Productions are required to file an initial application.
- Project must be completed within two years of being approved.
- Production must claim their credit on their state tax return.
- Indiana acknowledgment in the end credits is required for incentive uplifts.

“If you're not using GreenSlate for processing production payroll, then you're not thinking clearly. We run about 10–12 productions a year and have used several of their competitors. I've put off sharing this as I've truly felt they've been a competitive advantage.”
