Hollywood Satire 'The Other Two' Might Be 'The Funniest Show On TV'
Satire fans rejoice! Max released the first two episodes of season 3 of the Above Average produced The Other Two on May 4th, with episodes slated to release weekly through June 15th.
Seasons 1 and 2 aired on Comedy Central. Season 3 premiered as a Max exclusive.
The Other Two has somewhat flown under the radar during it's run, but has delighted audiences and critics enough to keep former SNL head writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider's series humming along into season 3, and based on the positive reception so far, likely into a fourth.
The show follows the lives of two siblings, Cary Dubek (Drew Tarver) and Brooke Dubek (Helene York), who have been thrown for a loop when their sibling Chase unexpectedly goes viral online. Cary, an actor, isn't achieving what he desires professionally, settling for for parts like "Man at Party Who Smells Fart". Brooke is just striving to improve her life in general. Chase's sudden rise to fame causes an often hilarious ripple effect in their lives.
The Other Two also stars the always hilarious Molly Shannon as Pat Dubek, Case Walker as Chase Dubek, and Ken Marino as Streeter Peters. Recurring cast includes Wanda Sykes as Shuli, Josh Segarra as Lance, and Brandon Scott Jones as Curtis.
Wired's Marah Eakin writes The Other Two really "captures the cringe and futility of online life" and that "its the funniest show you're probably not watching."
The third season leans even more heavily into balancing sad moments with loads of absurdity according to Vanity Fair's Richard Lawson. One scene in what Lawson calls "the funniest show on TV," has a character turning invisible as a metaphor but also "kind of in actuality?"
There's an even an extended homage to Pleasantville.
Creators Kelly and Schneider have said they found catharsis in satirizing Hollywood as they say its given them an opportunity to "work through your own feelings."
Schneider tells The Wrap that even "For all the industry's flaws we do like being a part of it, so it comes from a place of love... mostly."

“If you're not using GreenSlate for processing production payroll, then you're not thinking clearly. We run about 10–12 productions a year and have used several of their competitors. I've put off sharing this as I've truly felt they've been a competitive advantage.”
