SXSW Audience Award Winner ‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ Now in Theaters
From the producers of Little Miss Sunshine and first-time feature filmmakers Tyler Nilson and Mike Schwartz comes a modern Mark Twain style adventure story, a film that Variety’s Peter Debruge calls a “good-natured road/raft-trip movie.”
After discovering Zack Gottsagen’s acting talent at a camp in Santa Monica, Nilson and Schwartz vowed to write a script for him, using his contagious personality as a way to win over big names such as Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson, John Hawkes, and Bruce Dern, all of whom star in The Peanut Butter Falcon. In an interview with Variety, LaBeouf said he agreed to star in the film before ever reading the script, saying "I knew I was in immediately.”
The Peanut Butter Falcon chronicles the journey of Zak, a 22-year-old who escapes from a nursing home where the state sent him to live, a place where he clearly doesn’t belong. Zak runs away to make his dream of becoming a wrestler come true and befriends a reckless outlaw (LaBeouf) and Eleanor (Dakota Johnson), a volunteer who's charged with finding him before the authorities discover that he's missing, in this story of three strangers forming a substitute family.
This film is produced by Tim Zajaros, Lije Sarki, Albert Berger, Ron Yerxa, and Christopher Lemole. After opening in select markets on August 9th, the film will expand to other markets this weekend.

“If you're not using GreenSlate for processing production payroll, then you're not thinking clearly. We run about 10–12 productions a year and have used several of their competitors. I've put off sharing this as I've truly felt they've been a competitive advantage.”
