Jax Media’s “Search Party” Airs 5th and Final Season on HBO Max
The final season of Jax Media’s cult classic “Search Party” was released Friday, January 7th, and is available for streaming on HBO Max.
Over the course of five seasons, the series went through several twists and turns. What was once framed as a true crime show became a legal and psychological thriller, all while comically handling the existential imperfections of young adult life and morality. This season, co-creators and executive producers Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers, and Michael Showalter took the series in yet another direction, tapping into big tech, cult ideology, horror and sci-fi to gather all the threads into what Rogers thinks may be a “polarizing” finale.
In an interview with Deadline, Charles Rogers said: “I think the show ends in the same way that it always operated, which is to say that things are really complicated and it’s never about morality and it’s never about punishment or reward based on how you conduct life. It’s just about how complicated things are.”
