No More Folder Runs: How 3 Production Accountants Changed Their Workflow

Tessa used to photocopy everything she sent to set, just in case it never came back.

Now? Her line producer approved a bill payment from a tech scout bus, off a text message.

That’s one of the stories from our webinar, Working Accountants on the Day-to-Day, where Production Accountant Jamie Rodriguez-Davenport, Payroll Accountant Kenneth Aikey, and 1st Assistant Accountant Tessa Rose walked through how their weeks run today.

    Approval by Text Message

When Jamie needs something signed quickly, he copies the link from the URL bar and texts or emails it. The line producer or UPM taps it and lands right on the item. No folder. No trip to set.

Jenna Kaye, our Accountant Training Manager and a former production accountant, had to double-check: “So you’re sending the link to your crew members directly?”

    Yes, they are.

The Part Kenneth Can’t Get Used To

Kenneth says he’s often done by 6 pm on a Monday now. He still catches himself looking for what’s left.

“I always feel like I’m missing another step,” he said, “because I’ve just made it so easy.”

Jamie knew the feeling. The work didn’t disappear. Much of the carrying, copying, and signature-hunting did.
