About the 2026 Emmy Awards
The Emmy Awards, the television industry’s highest honors, recognize excellence across programming, performance, writing, directing, and the many craft and technical disciplines that bring shows to life. The Primetime Emmy Awards, or “The Emmys” are presented annually by the Television Academy (the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) and celebrate the best in U.S. prime-time television.
When are the 2026 Emmy Awards?
The 78th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, airing live on NBC and streaming on Peacock. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards precede the main telecast on September 5 and 6.
Where are the 2026 Emmy Awards held?
The ceremony takes place at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, California. This year’s show will be hosted by Law & Order: SVU star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay, the first woman to host the Emmys in 15 years.
Who votes for the Emmy Award nominees and winners?
Voting is handled by the members of the Television Academy, an organization of television professionals organized into peer groups by discipline (such as performers, directors, writers, producers, and craftspeople). During the nomination round, members generally vote within their own peer group for the categories that match their expertise, while all eligible members can vote in the top program categories. After nominations are set, the membership votes again to determine the winners, who are revealed at the ceremony.
