    13 Must-See Films At Toronto International Film Festival 2024

    This year's Toronto International Film Festival (running from September 5 - 24) has a fantastic lineup of films on the slate. 

    Here's a few that we're particularly excited about, and not just because these are GreenSlate client projects

    Anora

    This Palme d’Or winner follows a turbulent relationship between a New York–based exotic dancer and the son of a Russian oligarch. - TIFF

    Nicole Kidman is captivating as a high-powered executive who risks everything when she starts a sexual relationship with an intern (Harris Dickinson) in this thrilling erotic drama from writer-director Halina Reijn (Bodies Bodies Bodies). - TIFF

    The film follows a day-in-the-life of two overworked, underpaid and nearly burnt-out paramedics. One EMT is so burnt-out by the job that he is forcing himself to resign, though he first must embark on one last 24-hour shift to train his replacement. Everything that could happen on the job, from the mundane to the extreme, then happens on this final, exhilarating day. - TIFF

    God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust

    Oh, Canada

    Richard Gere re-teams up with director Paul Schrader (American Gigolo) in this drama about a writer and draft dodger who agrees to recount his life for a team of documentary filmmakers. - TIFF

    Nutcrackers

    Ben Stiller stars as a city slicker forced to look after a quartet of mischievous rural orphans in this fish-out-of-water comedy that speaks to the hidden talents in each of us just waiting for a chance to shine. - TIFF

    Riff Raff

    With an all-star ensemble that includes Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Coolidge, and Bill Murray, the latest from director Dito Montiel (Man Down, TIFF ’15) is a pitch-black comedy about family, loyalty, and murder. - TIFF

    When a young girl’s peculiar drawings come to life, leaving a wake of chaos and crayon dust, a grieving family has to band together to fight them off in this feature debut reminiscent of classics like Gremlins, Jumanji, and The Goonies. - TIFF

    Bill Murray, Naomi Watts, and a charismatic Great Dane named Bing propel this wise and insightful character drama based on the acclaimed novel by Sigrid Nunez and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel. - TIFF

    The Piano Lesson

    Malcolm Washington makes his feature directorial debut with this adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize–winning August Wilson play, featuring an incredible cast that includes Danielle Deadwyler, John David Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson in a story about a family haunted by the legacy of an heirloom. -  TIFF

    The Room Next Door

    Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore star in this visually exquisite and intimate adaptation of What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez, Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language feature. - TIFF
