Colette director Wash Westmoreland adapts Susanna Jones' novel to the screen for the film
In Earthquake Bird, a 1980s Tokyo-set mystery thriller, Lucy Fly (Vikander), a young Swedish translator, comes under investigation for her best friend Lily’s disappearance – and suspected murder – in the wake of their tumultuous love triangle with a local photographer (Naoki Kobayashi). The film chronicles the chain of events leading up to Lily's disappearance in a series of loosely interlocking flashbacks.
After its world premiere at the London Film Festival, Earthquake Bird will open with a limited theatrical release on November 1, then begin streaming on Netflix on November 15.
